The article reads:
TO APPEAR AT RADIO CITY--Under Ted Mack's critical eye, Russell Markert,
director and originator of the famed Radio City music Hall Rockettes,
shows a tap step to his newest dance discovery, 17-year-old Johnny Daenen.
The Bishop Byrne high school junior, appeared on the Ted Mack Original
Amateur hour television show and was presented a Music Hall Award of Merit.
He will shortly make his professional New York City debut in a state
spectacle which will be produced on the world's largest stage, at Radio
City Music hall. Young Daenen appeared this summer as a guest artist at
a Schroon lake resort.
This article came from another studio however Johnny studied under
Florence Coleman first. I always admired Johnny's dancing. Here, he was
a student of the "Annabelle Taylor Studio" known as The "Taylor Dance
Studio" in Nederland, Texas.
Johnny went on to star in stage productions. He also stared in "The Miracle"
(1959) Screen: 'The Miracle' at Music Hall; Warner Film was based on Reinhardt
Show. In the stage show at the Music Hall were Dino Zamaro, tenor; Bob Lewis,
comedian; Johnny Daenen, tap dancer; the Davis Dixie Band and the Rockettes.
This information came from an article published in The New York Times by reporter
Bosley Crowther November 13, 1959. I just did a search for Johnny.
If you have pictures of other dancers from schools other than Thomas
Jefferson, let me know about it. Send photos please.
